To be considered for acceptance into the Academy of Entrepreneurship, students must meet the following criteria:
- 2.5 GPA (unweighted) in grades 6-8; no grades of “F.”
- FCAT Scores high enough that student does not need remedial classes
- No Level I or Level II discipline referrals
- Good attendance record. Absences beyond the State policy limits are not acceptable.
- An expressed interest in entrepreneurship or business management
Students interested in applying for admission should submit a completed Application by the established District deadline. They should also give the “Request for Transcript” form to their school guidance counselor, who will forward a transcript of grades which includes the first semester of 8th grade.
Teacher recommendation forms should be given to your language arts teacher, math teacher, and another teacher of your choice (preferably a teacher who has knowledge of your computer skills). The teachers should send the completed recommendation forms directly to us.
Application and acceptance deadlines are set and strictly enforced by the Alachua County School Board, and it is important to meet the deadlines. Please check the School Board website for the most recently established due dates.
Transportation for Academy students who live outside the Buchholz school zone is currently being provided by the District from designated pick-up points in outlying communities. Therefore upon acceptance to the Academy, students who live outside the Buchholz school zone will be sent a Zoning Exemption Request form and a Transportation Request Form.
